Grasshopper Building Materials Limited (GBML), the country’s leading manufacturer of pavement tiles and eco-friendly concrete blocks, has officially inaugurated its second manufacturing facility in Bhatiari, Chittagong.
With this new facility, GBML has achieved a major milestone. It is now the largest pavement tile manufacturer and the only fair-face concrete block manufacturer in Chittagong. The state-of-the-art facility has the capacity to produce 1,000 sq ft of premium quality pavement tiles per hour and 16,000 fair-face concrete blocks per day.
All GBML products are BUET tested, which is trusted by leading architects of the country for their strength, durability and aesthetic quality.
Grasshopper Group Managing Director M. Mahmudur Rashid said: “We have been receiving huge demand from Chittagong for a long time. But supplying from our Savar factory was costly and challenging. So we invested in this new factory so that we can serve the local market more efficiently. InshaAllah, we will soon establish our factories across the country.”
This factory in Chittagong is setting new standards in the local construction industry. At the same time, it is creating several jobs, including women’s participation, and adding new momentum to the business of local suppliers.
Grasshopper Group Chairman Md. Tanzir Omar Faruk said: “We are directly contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Our goal is to establish eco-friendly materials instead of conventional construction materials. In addition, we are emphasizing eco-friendly activities in our factories—such as afforestation programs, use of renewable energy, and rainwater conservation.”
GBML Director and Chief Architect of Research and Development, Dr. M. Masudur Rashid added: “We are constantly working on new ideas and technologies. Our aim is to create construction materials that are lighter, stronger and more durable with a perfect finish.
