Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said that the current government is working with the determination to build national unity and country.
He said these things at a briefing to journalists after exchanging Eid greetings with the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister’s Gulshan residence in Dhaka on Thursday (May 28, 2026).
The minister said that people from all walks of life, regardless of party or opinion, must unite to build a developed and prosperous Bangladesh. Holding this principle, ‘We will work, build the country, Bangladesh first’, he expressed his determination to move forward with everyone through a strong national unity.
The minister also said that the people of Bangladesh after August 5, 2024 are enjoying a free, independent and peaceful environment. It is in this independent atmosphere that the countrymen have been fortunate enough to celebrate Eid in several festive environments in a row. He called for a joint prayer in the court of Almighty Allah for the continued prosperity of the country, maintenance of peace and order and all-round well-being.
The Home Minister said that on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman visited the graves of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Late Begum Khaleda Zia at Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital. Later, they visited the graves of late Arafat Rahman (Koko), the youngest son of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Late Begum Khaleda Zia, and Dr. Zubaida Rahman’s father Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan at Banani Cemetery. At the same time, they paid deep respect to the memory of the brave military officers of the BDR (now BGB) and other martyrs who were brutally martyred in the Peelkhana massacre, and prayed for the forgiveness of their souls.
State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Ad Hoc Committee member Syed Ibrahim Ahmed and others were present at the event.
