Free Trade Agreements Brighten Trade Prospects: Trade Advisor

Trade advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin said that the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) and free trade agreement with Japan will brighten the trade prospects of the two countries. It will open new doors of possibilities for Bangladesh.

The adviser said this during a courtesy meeting with the Japanese ambassador to Bangladesh, Iwama Kiminri, at the office of the trade adviser on Tuesday (12 November 2024) afternoon.

During the meeting, they discussed in detail the Free Trade Agreement, Economic Partnership Agreement and the business and trade situation of the two countries.

The advisor said, Bangladesh is an emerging economy country. Bangladesh will be able to create a strong position in the international market if the free trade agreement with Japan.

Sheikh Bashir Uddin mentioned that the relationship between Bangladesh and Japan has been raised to the standards of transparency and trust and said that this relationship will be stronger in the future through the increase in trade and commerce.

He also said that the interim government has taken over after the protests of the students. Bangladesh has a lot of potential. By ensuring good governance, the government wants to exploit that potential.

Japanese Ambassador Iwama Kiminri said, Japan has a long-standing friendship with Bangladesh. That friendship will deepen through the expansion of business and trade. Both countries can enjoy trade benefits through dialogue.

Mohang Salim Uddin, Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce was present at the time.
