Forum announces 14-point manifesto for BGMEA elections

On the occasion of BGMEA elections 2025-2027, the Forum Panel held a “Candidate Introduction and Election Manifesto Announcement” program on Saturday evening at the auditorium of BGMEA Complex. All the candidates from ballot numbers 1 to 35 were officially introduced in this program organized under the supervision of BGMEA.

The Forum’s panel leader, Mr. Mahmud Hasan Khan (Babu), was present as the chief guest at the program. He announced the Forum’s 14-point election manifesto for this year’s elections. Supporters of the Forum, senior officials of BGMEA and prominent industrialists participated in the program.

Among the key issues highlighted by the forum in the manifesto are—

Special steps for the development of SMEs and non-bonded factories

Formulation of a realistic exit policy for ailing industries

Resolving customs and banking-related complications

Strategic partnership with the government in tariff war and LDC transition

Formation of a special fund to support owners during times of crisis

Formation of a separate ministry for the garment industry

Measures for fair price realization

Initiatives to expand new markets

Formation of region-based crisis cells

Strong stance against unethical pressure from buyers

The forum also promised to ensure responsible stance of managers towards the factories they have assigned, increase the efficiency of the workforce, and participatory and transparent leadership.

Other speakers at the event included former BGMEA President Anisur Rahman Sinha, Anwar-ul-Alam Chowdhury (Parvez), Forum Chief Coordinator Faisal Samad, President MA Salam and Secretary General Dr Rashid Ahmed Hossaini, Deputy Managing Director of Desh Garments Limited Barrister Vidya Amrit Khan and many others.

They said that sustainable progress of the industry requires a participatory, responsible and transparent leadership. The Forum believes that if everyone works together, the country’s ready-made garment sector will be able to move forward more strongly in the international arena.

Shamsuddin, Nafis Ud Daula, Mrs. Sumaiya Islam, Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, Majumder Arifur Rahman, Mozammel Haque Bhuiyan, Fahima Akhter, Asef Kamal Pasha, Dr. Rashid Ahmed Hossaini, Rumana Rashid, Samiha Azim, Md. Rezwan Selim and Faisal Samad.

Candidates participating from Chittagong region:
Mohammad Saif Ullah Mansur, Mohammad Rafiq Chowdhury, Md. M. Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Sakif Ahmed Salam, Enamul Aziz Chowdhury, Md. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury, Mirza Md. Akbar Ali Chowdhury and Riaz Wise.

The forum said that if elected, they will be committed to implementing every promise for resolving the crisis and progressing the ready-made garment industry. This forum’s organization clearly outlines the outline and vision of future leadership.
