FICCI hosted a Luncheon Meeting on Sunday (20 October, 2024) at The Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, centered around the theme of “Sustainable Energy for Bangladesh.”
The event brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and academics to address the pressing challenges in our energy sector and explore viable solutions.
Chief Guest Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, adviser for the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, highlighted the government’s commitment to a sustainable energy future, discussing ongoing initiatives to enhance efficiency and diversify sources.

Keynote speaker, Dr. Ijaz Hossain, former Dean of BUET, provided an insightful analysis of the changing energy landscape, emphasizing the industrial sector’s shift in electricity consumption and the urgent need to maintain natural gas production levels. He warned that without proactive measures, reliance on imported LNG may increase significantly by 2030.
The discussions, moderated by Nowshad Ali, Country Manager of GE Vernova Bangladesh, included valuable insights from distinguished panelists like Dr. Badrul Imam and Dr. M. Rezwan Khan, who emphasized the importance of geological considerations and renewable energy in our pursuit of sustainability.
Dignitaries in attendance included President Zaved Akhtar, members of the FICCI Board, representatives from FICCI members, diplomats, and other stakeholders.
