FBCCI election period extended by 45 days

The deadline for the upcoming board elections of the Federation of Bangladesh Industries and Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the apex organization of Bangladeshi businessmen, has been extended by 45 days. This period has been extended in view of the decision of the Ministry of Commerce. As a result, the voting on the previously announced date of September 7, 2025, has become uncertain. The election board has said that the new schedule will be announced soon.

This information was given in a notification signed by the Chairman of the FBCCI Election Board and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Md. Abdur Razzak, on Monday (July 1).

The notification said, “In light of the decision taken by the Ministry of Commerce on July 1, the deadline for organizing the elections of the FBCCI Board of Directors for the terms of 2025-26 and 2026-27 has been extended by 45 days.”

As a result, there has been a temporary standstill in the previously announced election activities. However, the Election Board assured the concerned that the elections will be held on time according to the new deadline.

The Election Board informed that the decision to extend the deadline has been communicated to all the concerned parties and the process of announcing the re-scheduling will be completed soon.
