Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to inaugurate ‘Farmer Card’ program on April 14

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will formally inaugurate the ‘Farmer Card’ distribution program on an experimental basis on April 14 on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh 1433.

He made this information while speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Sports Card’ and allowance distribution program at the Shapla Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon at 10:30 am today, Monday (March 30, 2026).

The Prime Minister said that the ‘Farmer Card’ or ‘Farmer Card’ distribution program is starting from April 14. The government is continuously implementing its commitment to improve the quality of life of the country and the people, and this program is being launched as a part of that. He further said that the ‘Sports Card’ program has already started in this continuity.

Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Atiqur Rahman Rumon said that the Prime Minister will inaugurate this pre-piloting project through a program organized at Tangail Sadar on Pahela Baishakh. At the same time, these cards will be handed over to farmers simultaneously in 11 upazilas across the country.

The upazilas where the program is being launched initially are Tangail Sadar, Panchagarh Sadar, Boda in Panchagarh, Shibganj in Bogra, Shailkupa in Jhenaidah, Nesarabad in Pirojpur, Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar, Comilla Adarsh ​​Sadar, Islampur in Jamalpur, Goalanda in Rajbari and Juri in Moulvibazar.

The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) under the Ministry of Agriculture will implement this program. Under this, landless, marginal and small farmers will receive an average subsidy or agricultural input assistance of Tk 2,500.

In addition, financial grants will be provided to certain categories of farmers at a rate determined by the government during the Kharif-1 and Kharif-2 seasons.

Those concerned have expressed hope that this government initiative will play an important role in providing financial assistance to farmers and increasing agricultural production.
