EU, Switzerland and Canada to work together on disability rights and employment

Diplomatic Desk:

The European Union (EU) has reiterated its commitment to mainstreaming people with disabilities as citizens, students, workers, activists, leaders and policymakers.

To this end, the organization welcomed the launch of the ‘Disability Inclusive Civic Engagement’ (DICE) program under the Citizenship Civic Engagement Fund.

The EU said that the DICE project will work to develop the skills of young people with disabilities in Narsingdi, Manikganj and Gazipur districts, create employment opportunities, strengthen rights-based advocacy and active civic participation.

In addition to the EU’s support for the Citizenship Civic Engagement Fund, Switzerland and Canada are also cooperating as partners. The partners say that this initiative is being implemented with the aim of ensuring that no one is left behind in Bangladesh.

The DICE project is being implemented by the Centre for Disability in Development (CDD), Centre for Services and Information on Disability (CSID) and Bangladesh Society for the Change and Advocacy Nexus (B-SCAN).
