EU Ambassador pays courtesy call on Opposition Leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

On Thursday (May 14, 2026), the Leader of the Opposition in the Bangladesh National Parliament, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, was paid a courtesy call on the European Union Ambassador to Bangladesh, Michael Miller, and Political First Secretary Sebastian Rieger-Brown, at his office in the Parliament Building.

The meeting was held in a cordial and cordial atmosphere. During the exchange of views, various issues of mutual interest between Bangladesh and the European Union were discussed.

The discussions focused on making the post-national parliamentary elections more meaningful, ongoing reform activities, and implementing the referendum verdict. In addition, the need to take necessary steps to make the upcoming local government elections fair, free, and acceptable was also emphasized.

Both sides expressed their hope that the existing relations, development cooperation, and progress between Bangladesh and the European Union would be further strengthened in the future.

The Leader of the Opposition’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Barrister Mir Ahmed Bin Quasem Arman, MP, and Assistant Private Secretary Mohammad Nazrul Islam were present at the time.
