On Monday (22 December 2025), the European Union (EU) Ambassador to Bangladesh, Michael Miller, paid a courtesy call on Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud, SGP, BAM, NDU, AFWC, PSC, at the headquarters of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force. The Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union and Head of the Political, Press and Information Department, Mrs. Baiba Zarin, were present at the time. During the courtesy call, they also exchanged cordial greetings and discussed various matters of mutual interest.

The Director General gave details about the overall preparations of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force for the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026. The EU Ambassador expressed satisfaction after being informed about the trained manpower of the force, multi-dimensional security measures and field level preparedness.
The discussion presented the multi-dimensional initiatives taken to ensure the capacity development and welfare of the members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force. Skill enhancement programs, timely and modern training framework, sustainable development activities and the “Sanjivan Project” taken for the socio-economic development of the marginalized members of the force received special importance in the discussion.
The Chief of the Force informed the Honorable Ambassador that the Ansar and Village Defense Force is implementing extensive training programs to develop the members as skilled, self-reliant and international standard human resources. He mentioned that through these initiatives, the employment opportunities for the trained members of the force are increasing in the country and abroad. At the same time, the issue of fruitfully utilizing the bilateral potential between Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force and the European Union and expanding mutual cooperation was discussed with importance.
At the time, the Ambassador of the European Union highly appreciated the overall activities, professionalism and development-oriented initiatives of the force and expressed hope that the scope of cooperation will be further strengthened and expanded in the future.
