EU Ambassador Michael Miller pays courtesy call on Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

The European Union Ambassador to Bangladesh, Mr. Michael Miller, paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at his office in Bashundhara, Dhaka, on Thursday (September 4, 2025) at 11:00 am and exchanged views.

The Ambassador was accompanied by EU Deputy Head of Delegation Ms. Beiba Zerina. During the meeting, various issues of mutual interest between Bangladesh and the European Union were discussed. In particular, the issue of making democracy meaningful in Bangladesh gained importance.

Both sides expressed the hope that the trend of mutual relations, development and progress will continue in the future. The Ambassador inquired about the health of the Jamaat Ameer and discussed the possibility of organizing a meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami with a high-level EU delegation in mid-September.

Present with the Ameer-e-Jamaat during the meeting were Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher and Foreign Affairs Advisor Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan.
