EU Ambassador holds exchange of views with IGP on election security and police reform

The European Union Ambassador to Bangladesh and Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador Michael Miller, paid a courtesy call and exchanged views with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam on the overall security arrangements for the upcoming national elections and the deployment of the European Union (EU) Election Observation Mission.

The meeting discussed in detail the security situation during the elections, the preparedness of the police in maintaining law and order, professionalism and impartiality. In addition, the issue of conducting the safe and effective work of the EU Election Observation Mission also gained importance in the discussion.

The progress of the ongoing policing reform activities in Bangladesh and strengthening human rights-based and accountable policing systems were also discussed during the exchange of views.
