Saudi Arabia has announced the date of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. The country’s authorities made the announcement on Wednesday (March 18) after the moon-sighting activities of the month of Shawwal of the 1447 Hijri year.
A report by Gulf News said that another fast will be completed in Saudi Arabia as the moon was not sighted in the sky in the Middle East. As a result, the holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in the country next Friday (March 20).
Eid is usually celebrated in Bangladesh a day after Saudi Arabia. Accordingly, there is a possibility that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in the country next Saturday (March 21). However, the National Moon-Sighting Committee will make a final decision in this regard.
Earlier, the Turkish government also announced the date of Eid-ul-Fitr. The country said that Eid will be celebrated on Friday (March 20) based on the possibility of the Shawwal moon being sighted on Thursday (March 19) according to the forecast of astronomers.
On the other hand, Singapore authorities have said that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in the country on Saturday (March 21) as there is no possibility of moon sighting on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates has confirmed that the Shawwal moon has been photographed from the Khatam Astronomical Observatory in Abu Dhabi, affiliated with the International Astronomical Center. It has been reported that the observation was completed at noon local time on Wednesday (March 18).
As the date of Eid celebration varies depending on the sighting of the moon in different countries of the world, there is a possibility that Eid will be celebrated on different days in the Muslim world.
