DU Hall Parliamentary Elections: 1,035 final candidates, 73 withdrawn and 1 cancelled

The final list of candidates for the Dhaka University Hall Parliamentary Elections has been published. A total of 1,035 candidates will contest for 13 posts in 18 halls.

Of these, 73 have withdrawn their candidatures and one’s nomination has been cancelled. Earlier, a total of 1,109 nominations were submitted.

This information was given in a notification sent by the university’s public relations office on Wednesday (August 27, 2025) morning.

The notification said that among the candidates, Dr. There are 59 people in the Muhammad Shahidullah Hall, 31 in the Bangladesh-Kuwait Friendship Hall, 62 in the Salimullah Muslim Hall, 55 in the Jagannath Hall, 58 in the Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall, 75 in the Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall, 45 in the Rokeya Hall, 75 in the Surya Sen Hall, 60 in the Haji Muhammad Muhsin Hall, 35 in the Shamsun Nahar Hall, 68 in the poet Jasim Uddin Hall, 73 in the freedom fighter Ziaur Rahman Hall, 59 in the Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, 36 in the Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall, 76 in the Amar Ekushey Hall, 38 in the poet Sufia Kamal Hall, 68 in the Bijoy Ekattor Hall and 62 in the Sir A.F. Rahman Hall.

Among those who withdrew their candidacy are 2 for poet Sufia Kamal, 6 for Fazlul Haque Muslim, 5 for Amar Ekushey, 5 for freedom fighter Ziaur Rahman, 6 for martyr Sergeant Zahurul Haque, 1 for poet Jasim Uddin, 5 for Haji Muhammad Muhsin, 11 for Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah, 5 for Sir A.F. Rahman, 4 for Surya Sen, 9 for Bijoy Ekattor, 9 for Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, 4 for Jagannath and 1 for Shamsun Nahar.
