DMP security coordination meeting held on the occasion of the upcoming holy Ashura

A coordination meeting of DMP has been held on security, law and order and traffic management in Dhaka Metropolitan Area in order to observe the upcoming holy Ashura celebration and Tazia/Mourning procession programs with order and religious solemnity.

The meeting was held on Wednesday (25 June 2025) at 11:00 AM at the conference room of DMP Headquarters under the chairmanship of DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat ​​Ali, ndc.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah, PPM presented the overall security plan through a power point presentation in the coordination meeting. After that, in an open discussion, the leaders of the Tazia/Mourning procession celebration committee in Dhaka city, representatives of various service organizations and intelligence agencies, and senior officials of DMP gave their opinions and suggestions.

In his speech, the DMP Commissioner said that the police administration will ensure maximum security during the holy Ashura and the Ultorath Yatra of Hindus. The Commissioner expressed the hope that people of both communities will work together to maintain communal harmony and mutual respect and cooperate to complete these religious events smoothly and peacefully.

Addressing the organizers of the Tazia procession, the DMP Commissioner said that they should have enough volunteers who will actively work to maintain order in the procession. Along with this, the police will be responsible for maintaining overall law and order and controlling traffic management.

Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam, PPM-Seba said in the meeting that on July 5, 2025 AD. The religious event Rath Yatra of Hindus will be held. Everyone should try to avoid any kind of unwanted incident. Video cameras should be installed from the beginning of the Tazia procession so that no untoward incident can happen in the procession.

Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam, PPM-Service; Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics, Finance and Procurement) Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali; Additional Police Commissioner (CTTC) Md. Masud Karim; Joint Police Commissioners, Deputy Police Commissioners and officers of various ranks and representatives of various intelligence agencies, representatives of Dhaka North and South City Corporations, DPDC, DESCO, Directorate of Health and Fire Service and leaders of the Tazia procession celebration committee were present at the coordination meeting.
