As part of the government’s ongoing initiative to strengthen the country’s cyber security, preparations are being completed to publish the ‘Cyber Safety Ordinance’ in the form of a gazette within this month. Faiz Ahmed, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, gave this information.
In a special presentation titled ‘Digital Economy in the Eyes of Policymakers’ organized at the Intercontinental Hotel in the capital on Thursday (April 10, 2025), he said, “We are working very sincerely on the Cyber Safety Ordinance. Based on the opinions of stakeholders at various levels, all the relevant concerns and suggestions have been taken into account. As a result, we are confident that this ordinance will be effective by the end of April.”

The panel discussion titled ‘Inclusive Digital Growth: Overcoming Barriers through Policy and Technology’ was attended by Rohit Jamwal, Head of Public Sector Solutions, Citi Asia South, Rujan Sarwar, Head of Public Policy, METAR Bangladesh and Nepal, Otto Magne Risbach, CFO, Gramophone, Infan Zhang, Director, International Public Policy and Government Relations, and Deb Dulal Roy, Executive Director, Bangladesh Bank.
The panel session was moderated by Mohammad A. Akher, Director, Treasury and Trade Solutions, Citibank N.A.-Bangladesh.
In this discussion, the speakers emphasized the need for security and inclusive policies in the digital economy and spoke about the need for a coordinated effort to ensure cybersecurity.
