Chief Adviser keen to further expand ongoing cooperation between Japan and Bangladesh in various sectors

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus said that he is looking forward to meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to further expand ongoing cooperation between the two countries in various sectors.

He said, “There are opportunities for cooperation between Japan and Bangladesh in many sectors, I want to take it further.”

He made these comments while paying a courtesy call on Nikkei Inc. President and CEO Tsutomu Hasebe before the start of the Nikkei Forum’s ‘Future of Asia’ conference at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo on Thursday (May 29, 2025).

It is worth noting that Professor Yunus is going to meet with the Japanese Prime Minister tomorrow, Friday.

Referring to his regular visits to Japan before the COVID-19 pandemic, Professor Yunus said, “I am grateful to the Nikkei Forum because it has helped me make many friends in Japan.”

Professor Yunus expressed hope that he would continue this effort in the future as well.

He thanked the Chief Advisor for attending the event despite his busy schedule.
