The 85th birthday of Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser to the interim government of Bangladesh, is today. He was born on June 28, 1940, in Bathua village of Hathazari upazila of Chittagong.
He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for establishing Grameen Bank and inspiring the concept of microfinance and microfinance. He has been awarded various national and international honors, including the US Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009 and the Congressional Gold Medal in 2010.
After the Awami League government fell in the student-public movement in July last year, an interim government was formed on August 8 under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
