British King Charles III’s birthday celebrated in Dhaka

A colorful event was organized by the British High Commission in Dhaka on Wednesday (June 18, 2025) evening to mark the birthday of King Charles III.

As the British Head of State and Head of the Commonwealth, King Charles has long been a global leader in the fields of climate change, sustainable development, art and culture, healthcare and education. His role was also honored at the event.

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke welcomed the guests. Traditional food and music from the United Kingdom and Bangladesh were served at the event.

The guests delivered speeches honoring King Charles and wishing for progress in the bilateral relations between the United Kingdom and Bangladesh.

Syeda Rizwana Hassan, Advisor on Environment, Forests and Climate Change and Water Resources, was present as the chief guest at the event.

He said, “I express my gratitude to the British government for their willingness to provide Bangladesh with timely information and data sharing on early disaster warning and climate change.”

Referring to the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries, the advisor also expressed hope that the bilateral relations between Dhaka and London will be further strengthened in the future.

High Commissioner Cooke said, “We have chosen ‘Climate Resilience and Sustainable Development’ as the main theme for this year’s event. These issues have always been highlighted by King Charles and are also important elements of the UK-Bangladesh partnership.”

He also said that the UK is committed to helping Bangladesh move towards a democratic, inclusive and prosperous future.

The event was attended by high-level representatives of the interim government of Bangladesh, as well as ambassadors from various countries, diplomatic missions, political party leaders, eminent personalities from the fields of business, education, social development, art and culture, media and sports.
