British High Commissioner pays courtesy call on Jamaat Ameer

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mrs. Sarah Cook paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at the office of Bashundhara in the capital today (September 10) at 11 am.

During the meeting, the British High Commissioner inquired about the health of the Jamaat Ameer and wished him a speedy and complete recovery. She was accompanied by Ms. Kate Ward, Second Secretary of the High Commission. The meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere.

During the exchange of views, both sides discussed the overall political situation prevailing in Bangladesh, establishment of democracy, upcoming elections, human rights, the condition of minorities and the Rohingya issue. In addition, views were also exchanged on further improving and strengthening the existing friendly relations between Great Britain and Bangladesh.

At that time, Jamaat Naib-e-Ameer and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher, Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Propaganda and Media Department Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, and Ameer-e-Jamaat’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan were present.
