Bridge Secretary inspects Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway project area to ensure safe and smooth Eid journey of people heading home on the upcoming Eid

In order to ensure safe, smooth and comfortable Eid journey of people heading home on the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr 2026, Mr. Mohammad Abdur Rouf, Secretary of the Bridge Division and Executive Director of Bangladesh Bridge Authority, inspected the construction work of the Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway project and related roads on Tuesday (March 17, 2026).

During the inspection, the Secretary of the Bridge Division reviewed the current progress of the project and provided necessary directions to the concerned to ensure traffic-free movement of people heading home on the upcoming Eid. He said that the Honorable Prime Minister is working tirelessly to make the transportation system of the people of the country easy and modern. In continuation of this, the Honorable Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Ministry and the Honorable Minister of State are also very vigilant about the upcoming Eid journey and are taking the matter with utmost importance.

He further said that strict vigilance should be maintained to ensure that the Dhaka-Ashulia route is not disrupted in any way and that the passengers do not suffer due to the under-construction projects. He ordered the completion of the sections of the road that need renovation quickly so that the North Bengal-bound vehicles can move without any hindrance.

During the inspection, the Bridge Secretary closely observed the piling of the pillars under construction, installation of girders and the junction work of the project. He exchanged views with the representatives of the concerned engineers and contracting organizations and provided necessary directions to accelerate the pace of the work. He made it clear that the suffering of the common people during the journey is not desirable in any way.

The Bridge Secretary said that the Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway is a priority mega project of the current government. If implemented, it will bring revolutionary changes in the communication system of the northern and western regions with Dhaka and will play an important role in reducing traffic congestion in the Savar-Ashulia region.

He also mentioned that even though the work on the expressway project is ongoing, special attention is being paid to ensure that the alternative road and the existing road below remain operational. He emphasized on strengthening traffic management in coordination with the law enforcement agencies and local administration, so that passengers can reach their destinations without any inconvenience. Senior officials of the Bridge Division, Bangladesh Bridge Authority, project director and project consultant and related engineers were present in the project area at that time.
