Minister of Commerce, Industry, Jute and Textiles and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Export Promotion Bureau, Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, said that the role of small entrepreneurs in Bangladesh’s export sector is immense. Participation in international fairs is very important for introducing their products to the world market and exporting them. But many small entrepreneurs cannot participate in these fairs due to lack of necessary financial support. He announced that booth rent will be waived for small entrepreneurs to participate in international fairs to increase export trade.
The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at the de-briefing ceremony of the 10th China-South Asia Expo and the 30th China-Kunming Import-Export 2026 fair at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (Big Wave) in Purbachal this afternoon.
The Commerce Minister said that the current government is the people’s government. The government is taking special initiatives to facilitate the trade and commerce of the people, especially small entrepreneurs. The validity of the trade license of traders will be increased to five years. Steps are being taken so that the license can be obtained online from home.
Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Md. Ataur Rahman Khan, ndc, spoke as a special guest at the de-briefing meeting held under the chairmanship of Vice Chairman and CEO of the Export Promotion Bureau Mohammad Hasan Arif.
Among others, President of Bangladesh Multipurpose Jute Products Manufacturers and Exporters Association Md. Rashedul Karim Munna and Vice President of Footwear and Leather Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association Md. Nasir Khan delivered speeches in the meeting.
The Minister listened to the speeches, proposals and experiences of participating in the Kunming Fair of the small entrepreneurs present and expressed his views on the matter.
At the beginning of the program, the minister and guests unveiled the cover of the quarterly newsletter published by the Export Promotion Bureau.
