BNP promises free education for women up to postgraduate level if voted to power

Staff Correspondent:

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has promised to provide free education for women up to postgraduate level if voted to power in the upcoming 13th National Assembly elections.

The party’s election manifesto announced ahead of the elections states that it will give top priority to the education sector. The manifesto includes several promises such as introducing free school uniforms and free Wi-Fi for students, making private universities tax-free, making third language education mandatory, and providing free education for girls up to postgraduate level.

Party Chairman Tarique Rahman officially announced the BNP’s election manifesto at a function held at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital on Friday (February 6, 2026).

The manifesto states that free Wi-Fi will be introduced in schools, colleges, cafes and libraries to expand digital facilities in the education sector. This initiative will support students in their studies and research activities and at the same time play an important role in reducing the digital divide.

The manifesto also mentions a plan to provide free school uniforms to students to reduce the cost of their education.
