BIDA holds important meeting to enhance the capacity of Chittagong Port and develop infrastructure

An important meeting was held at the BIDA (Bangladesh Investment Development Authority) office today, Wednesday (August 6, 2025), to enhance the capacity of Chittagong Port and modernize and develop integrated roads, railways and other infrastructure adjacent to the port.

The meeting was presided over by Mr. Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of BIDA and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA). Mr. Sheikh Moinuddin, Special Assistant to the Honorable Principal Advisor (Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges), was present as the chief guest.

The meeting discussed in detail the coordination and modernization of roads, railways and related infrastructure to enhance the efficiency of Chittagong Port. In particular, emphasis was placed on developing the highways, connecting roads, railway lines and logistics support infrastructure connected to the port in a modern manner.

In addition, the concerned officials also presented recommendations on how to use the existing infrastructure more efficiently to reduce the suffering of port users, improve the speed of goods transportation and service quality.

Senior officials of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, Ministry of Railways, Planning Commission, Chittagong Port Authority, BEZA, BIDA and other concerned organizations were present at the meeting.
