BGMEA congratulates BNP on historic victory in 13th parliamentary elections

Business Desk:

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has congratulated the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) led by Tarique Rahman for its historic victory in the 13th parliamentary elections.

A congratulatory message signed by BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan on Saturday (February 14, 2026) stated that the unprecedented and absolute victory of BNP in more than two-thirds of the seats is an unforgettable milestone in the country’s democratic history. This victory will be considered a clear reflection of the popular vote of the entire people of the country.

The message further said that Tarique Rahman’s strong and dynamic leadership will play an important role in establishing Bangladesh as a respectable and strong economic power on the world stage. BGMEA expresses strong optimism that this leadership will be effective in building a prosperous, non-discriminatory and democratic Bangladesh.

The ready-made garment industry, the main driving force of the national economy, is currently at a crucial juncture. The new government’s far-sighted policy support and business-friendly approach are essential to address the global challenges of post-LDC transition, ensure uninterrupted energy security in the industry, and further consolidate Bangladesh’s position in the global market.

In its congratulatory message, BGMEA expressed its expectation of the government’s full cooperation in achieving the national goal of increasing garment exports to $100 billion by 2030. At the same time, it also expressed its hope to establish the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ brand as a symbol of excellence in the global market.

The message further expressed hope that the members of the BGMEA family, who have been elected as members of parliament with huge public support, will play an active role in the National Parliament to resolve the crisis in the garment industry and further strengthen the country’s overall economy.

In the final part of the message, Tarique Rahman was wished good health, longevity, and all-round success in all his initiatives in running the country.
