Bangladesh wants to build balanced relations with the world based on mutual respect and cooperation: Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Diplomatic Desk:

An Iftar Mahfil was organized in the capital in honor of diplomats at the initiative of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. The Iftar Mahfil, organized at the LD Hall of the National Parliament Building on Saturday (March 7, 2026), was presided over by Dr. Shafiqur Rahman MP, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Leader of the Opposition in the National Parliament.

The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Ambassadors, diplomats, representatives of international organizations and other dignitaries from different countries of the country and abroad participated in it.

Diplomats present included ambassadors and representatives from the United States, China, Russia, the United Kingdom, Palestine, the European Union, Canada, India, Turkey, France, Germany, Italy, Pakistan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vatican City, Iran, Brunei Darussalam, Maldives, Algeria, Kosovo, Egypt, Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, Australia, Norway, Nepal, the Philippines, the Netherlands, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Switzerland and South Korea. Representatives from various international organizations including UNDP, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNODC, Democracy International and IOM also participated in the event.

Jamaat leaders present included the party’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Professor Mujibur Rahman MP, Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar (former MP), Assistant Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum, Advocate Muazzam Hossain Helal, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan MP, Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Central Executive Council Member Md. Nurul Islam Bulbul MP, Mohammad Selim Uddin, Abdur Rob, Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud MP, Central Working Committee Member Zahidur Rahman, Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir and other leaders.

In his speech, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman MP expressed his sincere gratitude to the diplomats, representatives of international organizations and distinguished guests present. He said that Bangladesh wants to build more positive and balanced relations with the world community based on mutual respect, cooperation and constructive relations.

He expressed hope that the relations between Bangladesh and the international community will be further strengthened in the coming days based on mutual understanding, a just position and human values.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman also said that the teachings of Ramadan call people towards restraint, compassion, justice and human welfare. If these values ​​are embraced in individual, social and state life, it will be possible to establish a peaceful, just and welfare-oriented society.

He wished for peace, security and prosperity for the country, nation, Muslim Ummah and the entire world.

Finally, the program ended with prayers and supplications.
