Bangladesh supports the flood affected people of Mozambique

Desk Report:

On behalf of the government of Bangladesh, Shah Ahmed Shafi, Bangladesh High Commissioner to South Africa, handed over a cheque equivalent to Tk. 10 lac in local currency to Ms. Manuela Dos Santos Lucas, Foreign Minister of Mozambique in a simple ceremony at her office in Maputo on Wednesday (05 February, 2026).

Mozambique appealed to the international community for humanitarian assistance after a devastating flood caused by month-long torrential rainfall destroyed crops, livelihoods and communication facilities leading to a humanitarian crisis.

High Commissioner Shafi conveyed the sympathy to the people and government of Mozambique from the people and government of Bangladesh and wished quick recovery from the sufferings. The support, he said, is just a symbol of solidarity of the people and government of Bangladesh for the people and government of Mozambique.

Bangladesh’s Honorary Consul General in Mozambique Mr. Yusuf Mirali was present during the cheque hand over event.
