Desk Report:
As part of the government’s election manifesto implementation of ‘Fast and Reliable Internet for All’, Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC (BSCPLC) has announced two special incentive packages to provide more affordable facilities to its customers in using international bandwidth.
Through the new initiative, ISPs, IIGs and other telecommunication operators will be able to use international bandwidth at a lower cost.
In the first package, special bonus facilities will be provided on the purchase of new IPLC capacity on the Cox’s Bazar-Singapore (TUAS) route of the SEA-ME-WE 4 submarine cable system. Prepaid customers will get an additional 100G capacity free of charge if they purchase 200G new capacity. Similarly, another 10G bonus will be given for every 10G purchased for 10G new capacity. This facility is applicable only to new additional capacity and will be effective on a first-come, first-served basis. This package will be effective from March 10, 2026.
In the second package, ‘Limited Destination Bonus Bandwidth’ facility has been introduced for zero outstanding prepaid customers under BSCPLC’s IP Transit service. Under this, customers will get up to 70 percent free bonus Limited Destination Bandwidth subject to specified conditions. The facility will be provided from Kuakata or Cox’s Bazar POP and will be applicable to the destination bandwidth of the connected existing CDN providers. The package will be effective from April 1, 2026.
Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC said that through these new incentive packages, the country’s internet service providers will be able to use international bandwidth at a more affordable price (less than 90 taka per megabit of data), which will make a significant contribution to the development of an IT-based and knowledge-based economy.
