Bangladesh Set to Break World Record with 54 Paratroopers Carrying 54 Flags on Victory Day

As the nation prepares to celebrate the Victory Day on December 16, 2025, large-scale preparations are underway across Bangladesh. To mark the 54th anniversary of independence, Bangladesh is gearing up to set a unique world record—54 paratroopers will perform a parachute jump carrying 54 national flags. This joint initiative of the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force is expected to earn recognition in the Guinness World Records. All arrangements for the Victory Day celebrations were finalized at a meeting held on Monday (December 8) at the Office of the Chief Adviser, chaired by Faruk I Azam, Adviser to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman, and senior officials from various ministries and departments attended the meeting.

On Victory Day, the Army, Navy, and Air Force will conduct a fly-past demonstration at the Old Airport in Tejgaon from 11 a.m. At 11:40 a.m., “Team Bangladesh” will perform the historic parachute jump with 54 paratroopers carrying national flags, which will remain open to the public. Similar fly-past events and band shows by the armed forces, police, BGB, and Ansar will be held in other cities across the country. The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs will organize three-day Victory Fairs nationwide, along with essay writing, recitation, drawing competitions, and cultural programs at district and upazila levels.

The Ministry of Cultural Affairs will host an acrobatic show and the theatrical production “General Osmany” at Suhrawardy Udyan on December 15. On December 16, Victory Day songs will be performed at the same venue, while artists from the new generation will render songs of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra simultaneously in all 64 districts. Expressing enthusiasm, Adviser Faruk I Azam said that extensive preparations have been made to ensure participation from all walks of life regardless of religion, ethnicity, or class. Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki stated that this year’s celebration will be unforgettable for the younger generation and is expected to surpass all previous celebrations.

In observance of Victory Day, national flags will be hoisted and buildings illuminated across government, semi-government, autonomous, and private institutions. The Ministry of Information will publish a special supplement. Special programs will be held in educational institutions, and receptions will be organized to honor freedom fighters. Naval ships and Coast Guard vessels will be open to the public at various ports including Chattogram, Khulna, Mongla, Payra, Sadarghat, Pagla, and Barishal. Students will enjoy free screenings of Liberation War–based films at cinema halls, while museums and recreational centers will remain open to children free of charge.

Special prayers will be offered at mosques, temples, churches, pagodas, and other places of worship for the departed souls of the martyred freedom fighters and the well-being of the wounded veterans. Additionally, festive meals will be arranged in hospitals, prisons, orphanages, shelter homes, disability centers, daycare facilities, children’s homes, and vagrant centers.

This year’s Victory Day is set to become a historic and vibrant celebration with participation from people across the nation.
