Bangladesh has stood by the people affected by the sudden and severe floods and landslides in northern Nepal in relief, rehabilitation and humanitarian assistance activities. The Bangladesh government has provided $1 million (approximately Tk 123 million) in aid to the country’s Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
On Thursday (September 3, 2026), State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir informed Nepal’s Ambassador to Dhaka, Ghanshyam Bhandari, about this assistance. At the time, he also handed over a letter sent by Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah to the ambassador.
The Bangladesh government said that this money has been provided to support the ongoing relief, rescue, recovery and humanitarian activities to deal with the recent severe floods and landslides in northern Nepal.
As part of Bangladesh’s sympathy and solidarity with Nepal’s devastating natural disaster, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir signed the condolence book opened at the Nepal Embassy in Dhaka on September 1.
In addition, on August 27, the National Parliament of Bangladesh adopted a condolence resolution on the loss of life and damage caused by the devastating natural disaster in Nepal.
This assistance from Bangladesh is being considered a reflection of the friendly and brotherly relations between the two countries. At the same time, Bangladesh’s humanitarian commitment to standing by the people affected by natural disasters has also been manifested.
