Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam, PSC, G and Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen have agreed to further strengthen the existing military and defense cooperation between Bangladesh and China.
Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor at the Armed Forces Division office in Dhaka Cantonment on Thursday (September 3).
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on further accelerating and strengthening the existing military and defense cooperation between Bangladesh and China. In particular, fruitful discussions were held on advanced professional training, military education exchange and technical capacity building of the armed forces members of the two countries.
The meeting emphasized the need to further enhance mutual experience exchange and training cooperation between the two countries to address modern military challenges. Both sides expressed optimism that such cooperation will take Bangladesh-China bilateral relations to a new level.
The Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor recalled the long-standing historical friendship, strategic partnership and China’s support for Bangladesh’s development. He expressed hope that China’s cooperation in defense and other fields will further increase in the future.
On the other hand, the Chinese Ambassador reiterated China’s continued support for the modernization of Bangladesh’s defense sector.
At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed their firm determination to take the existing friendly relations and mutually beneficial defense cooperation between Bangladesh and China to new heights in the future.
