Bangladesh National Authority for the Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC) holds 25th General Meeting

The 25th General Meeting of the Bangladesh National Authority for the Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC) was held today, Monday (22 December 2025) at the Multipurpose Hall of the Armed Forces Division. The meeting was presided over by Lieutenant General S. M. Kamrul Hasan, BSP, ndc, HDMC, psc, PhD, Chairman of the BNACWC and Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division.

A total of 43 military and civilian members of the BNACWC from various ministries, departments, organizations and forces participated in the meeting. In the meeting, the importance was attached to the online registration of all activities related to scheduled chemicals and non-scheduled independent organic chemical production institutions with BNACWC in order to effectively implement the provisions of the International Chemical Weapons Convention and the Chemical Weapons (Prohibition) Act, 2006, Bangladesh.

The seriousness of the recent fire accidents at Mirpur, Gazipur and Hazrat Shahjalal International Airports due to chemical mismanagement in the country and the effective role of all concerned in preventing such accidents were given instructions. In addition, the Chairman, BNACWC laid special emphasis on the proper effective role of all concerned including importers, users, customs and law enforcement agencies to consolidate the overall chemical safety system of the country and take effective measures to deal with chemical accidents.
