A key discussion on “Capital Market Expansion: A Framework for Sustainable Economic Growth” was held by Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association (BMBA) on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka.
Special Assistant to the Ministry of Finance (State Minister) Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury was present as the chief guest at the event. Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Mr. Khondaker Rashed Maksud, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Chairman Mr. Mominul Islam, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) Chairman Mr. AKM Habibur Rahman, Additional Secretary, Financial Institutions Division, Ministry of Finance Mr. Md. Syed Qutub, Managing Director, Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) Mr. Niranjan Chandra Debnath, Director of Bangladesh Bank Mr. Istekemal Hossain, Director of PRAN-RFL Group Mrs. Uzma Chowdhury and Managing Director of Apex Footwear Limited Mr. Syed Nasim Manjur.
BMBA President and ICB Capital Management Limited Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mrs. Majeda Khatun presented a strategic vision for expanding the capital market of Bangladesh through an inspiring presentation. She said that to make the capital market more effective and prosperous, policy support, use of modern technology and investment-friendly environment must be ensured.
BMBA Treasurer Mr. Iftekhar Alam also presented a keynote presentation at the meeting, where he shed light on the growth of the capital market and its impact on the macro economy.
In their speeches, the guests emphasized on capital market reforms, increasing institutional investment, and new financial innovations for long-term economic development.
