Bangladesh Garment Washing Technologists Foundation (BGWTF) organized their 14th annual gathering

The Chairman of Board of Trustees at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), and former President BGMEA Faruque Hassan on Thursday said the country’s garment industry needs to be more competitive and cost effective to boost the exports, overcome the challenges in post-LDC period.

“Washing technologists can play a significant role in cost effective.We all have to work together to boost our exports and the country’s economy, ” Faruque Hassan made the remakrs as the Chief Guest at 14th Annual Get-together of Bangladesh Garments Washing Technologists Foundation (BGWTF) held at KG Eco Resort and Picnic Spot, Krishibid City, Birulia, Savar in Dhaka.

The day-long event was inaugurated by distinguished guest from textile garment sector, members of BGWTF who are working in different garment washing factories.

BGWTF President Md Abdus Samad presided over the function and its general secretary Engr Mahasinuzzaman Shishir moderated the event.

The Best Development Awards were handed over among Maxcom Washing, Agami Washing Ltd, and Sterling Washing Ltd in the programme. Besides, Engr. Mehadi Hasan, the founder President of the BGWTF got gold Medal and life time membership there.

Faruque Hassan said many RMG factories have already been shut due to various reasons including gas and electricity problems. There are many challenges in coming days too. So, the challenges should turn into opportunity by working together.

“The RMG industry is now facing multiple challenges including gas, electricity, and customs issues. After LDC graduation, our dutry free facility would come down. So, we must be competitive and cost effective to grow the industry,” he also said.

Mentioning USA tarrif imposed on Bangladesh, the BGMEA former president said negotiation between the two countries is needed.

Speaking there, BUFT Vice Chancellor (acting) Prof Dr Engr Ayub Nabi Khan emphasised on collaboration between industry and academia.

“Research cultre must improve in industries to diversify products and boost exports. As washing technologists are playing significant role in garment industry, a national conference can be held at BUFT among stakeholders,” he also said.

Advisor to the BGWTF, and Chairman of JCL Group Md Helal Uddin Ahmed said the textile industry grows thanks to washing technologists.

He focused on the use of environment friendly and sustainable chemicals in textiles items.

Mehedi Hasan underscored the need for proper chemical use in textile industry to reduce cost.

In addition, as special guests there, BGWIA president Md Safiullah Khokon, Chief Advisor to BGWTF and Managing director of Unique Group Engr Syed Farid Ahmed, Director of Sterling Group Md Monirul Islam Sentu, CEO of MBM Group Md Saifur Rahman , Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBHA), and Managing Director of AGS International Ltd Faridul Haque were present.

Besides, Founder President of the BGWTF and General Manager of Sterling Laundry Engr Mehedi Hasan, Director of the department of the textile engineering at Daffodil International University Prof Md Mahbubul Haque, Executive Director of Ha-Meem Group Dr Nazmul Huda, Managing Director of Denim Solutions Ltd SM Sohel Rana, General Manager and Head of Production of Laundry Industries Ltd at Envoy Group AM Abdullah Al Mamun Uzzal, COO at Tarasima Washing Ltd Kamal Uddin Mia, Head of Operations (RMG division) at Vertex Group Md Reza E Rabbi, Head of Operations at Designer Washing and Dyeing Ltd Mohammod Rakibul Alam Khan also were present at the Programme as special guests.

However, the BGWTF takes plan to inaugurate Bangladesh Garment Washing Institute soon. For members, the BGWTF organizes different beneficiary support and activities including healthcare, support to the financially and physically weak members, different training and workshop, and get-together so many.

BWGTF recently signed with Delta Life Insurance with support of Denim Solution for insurance coverage for its life members. The BGWTF proudly declared that they are going to develop BGWTF Complex at their own land in Asulia.

BGWTF is a non-political, non-profitable, social welfare foundation which has a remarkable number of members. It is a professional organization of washing technologists. The foundation is working with the government and trade bodies for value addition and development of the textile industry.

Currently, BGWTF has 400+ life members and 200+ general members. It was formed in 2009 registered in 2014 with some positive textile garment and washing professionals and gradually expanded its activities.
