Bangladesh continues the process of evacuating Bangladeshi citizens from Tehran: Acting Foreign Secretary

In the context of the ongoing war situation between Iran and Israel, the Bangladesh government has taken initiatives to ensure the safety of about 400 Bangladeshis in Tehran, the capital of Iran. Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddiqui said that about 100 Bangladeshis have already contacted the Bangladesh Embassy in Tehran.

He gave this information during a briefing on the Iran-Israel war situation and the safety of expatriate Bangladeshis at a press conference organized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday (June 17, 2025).

He also said that the process of evacuating a total of 40 people, including officials and diplomats of the Bangladesh Embassy in Tehran, to a safe place has begun. At the same time, preparations are being made to transfer about 400 expatriate Bangladeshis to safe places in phases and send them back to the country.
