Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Manchester celebrates ‘Independence and National Day-2025’

On Wednesday, 26 March 2025, the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission, Manchester celebrated ‘Great Independence and National Day-2025’ with due dignity and solemnity. In the first part of the program, the National Flag was hoisted by the Assistant High Commissioner in the presence of the officers and staff of the Assistant High Commission and prayers were offered in memory of the brave freedom fighters, martyrs of the battlefield and the oppressed mothers and sisters.

Then in the second part, the officers and staff of the mission and the visiting guests performed the national anthem. After that, 1 minute silence was observed in memory of the martyrs who died in the nine-month bloody struggle of the great Liberation War.

Thereafter, the messages of His Excellency the President, the Hon. Chief Advisor and the Hon. Foreign Affairs Advisor on the occasion of the great Independence Day were read out. Later, the participants in the discussion program held an objective discussion on two topics – the historical background of the Great Liberation War and the final phase of the great liberation struggle (the nine-month armed war).

In his vote of thanks, the Assistant High Commissioner called the Great Liberation War the most glorious chapter in the history of the people of this land for hundreds of thousands of years. He extended his greetings to all the people of Bangladeshi origin living in Greater Manchester and the North-West of the United Kingdom on the occasion of Independence and National Day and called upon them to play their role in making this independence, which was achieved with the blood of three million martyrs, meaningful. Finally, the program was declared over by wishing the country and the nation well and thanking the guests for their presence.
