Bangladesh Army to ensure security during Happy Prabarana Purnima celebrations

Buddhists in various districts across the country are peacefully celebrating their second biggest religious festival ‘Shubh Prabarana Purnima’. Thursday (17 October 2024) Sarvajan Buddhist Vihara, Mangsuiprupara Buddhist Vihara, Sen Buddhist Vihara, Amtali Buddhist Vihara in Bandarban district of Chittagong Hill Tracts; The festival is celebrated with enthusiasm in Shalbon Buddhist Vihar, Boalkhali and Dighinala upazilas of Khagrachari district and Chaudharma Buddhist Vihar, Race Bazar and Rangamati Sadar in Rangamati district.

Besides, people of Buddhist and Rakhine communities in 11 upazilas of Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar districts peacefully celebrated Prabarana festival in 291 Buddhist Viharas. Apart from this, the ‘Kalp Jahasa Vasa Utsav’ was held on the bank of Bakkhali River in Ramu Upazila. Also Prabarana Utsav was celebrated peacefully in 14 Bihars of Barisal district.

On Friday (18 October 2024), another ‘Kalp Jahaza Bhasa Utsav’ was organized in Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila and Buddhists organized a rally at Siemens ground in Chittagong EPZ. Bangladesh Army has taken necessary security measures to ensure the safety of the rally. Acting Chairman of Bangladesh Buddhist Federation, Professor Dr. Sukomal Barua expressed special gratitude.
