Army Chief inaugurates permanent campus of Army Medical College in Comilla

Desk Report:

Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman inaugurated the newly built permanent campus of Army Medical College, Comilla located near Comilla Cantonment and simultaneously laid the foundation stone of the 500-bed Army Medical College Hospital.

It is to be noted that the academic activities of Army Medical College, Comilla were officially started on 11 January 2015 on 5 acres of land provided by the Area Headquarters, Comilla in Comilla Cantonment. On Sunday (15 March 2026), the formal journey of the permanent campus built on 7.07 acres of land with its own funding began with the inauguration of the Army Chief.

Currently, 250 students are studying in the college. Since its establishment, a total of 283 students from 6 batches have successfully passed as doctors and are working in the country and abroad.

In addition, the college plans to start admitting foreign students to its permanent campus from the next academic year, which will further expand the institution’s educational programs to the international arena.

The program was attended by the Quartermaster General of the Bangladesh Army, Director General of Medical Services, Engineer in Chief, Adjutant General, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 9 Infantry Division and Area Commander (Savar), GOC 33 Infantry Division and Area Commander (Comilla), senior officers of the Army Headquarters and the concerned areas, medical college and hospital staff, students and representatives of various media outlets.
