Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan Urges Direct Flight on Tokyo-Dhaka Route in Meeting with JAL Vice President

Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Mr. Md. Daud Ali, held a meeting today on Monday (14 July 2025) with Mr. Abe Motohisa, Vice President of Japan Airlines (JAL), at the airline’s Tokyo office. The meeting focused on expanding air connectivity between the two nations, particularly in light of increasing travel and trade between Bangladesh and Japan.

Ambassador Ali highlighted the growing number of travelers between the two countries and emphasized the urgent need for a direct flight between Tokyo and Dhaka. He called upon Japan Airlines to consider launching operations on the route, which he noted would significantly boost people-to-people contact and economic cooperation.

In response, Mr. Motohisa acknowledged the potential of the Tokyo-Dhaka route, citing that approximately 70,000 passengers travel between the two cities annually. He agreed that there is considerable commercial viability for a direct flight and expressed keen interest in exploring the feasibility of launching the service.
