Algerian Ambassador paid a courtesy call on Foreign Secretary

Dr. Abdelouahab Saidani, Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Secretary Ambassador Md. Jashim Uddin on Thursday (10 April, 2025) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka.

During the meeting, the outcomes of the recent Bilateral Consultations were reviewed held in Algiers on 4 February 2025 and reaffirmed their shared commitment to further deepening the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Algeria.

The discussions underscored the prospects for enhanced cooperation in the energy sector, including the establishment of a joint working group and the possibility of high-level ministerial visits.

Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening economic ties through increased business-to-business interactions, proposing virtual meetings, exchange of business delegations, and participation in trade fairs in both countries.

They also acknowledged the potential for expanded collaboration in the fields of agriculture, education, scientific research, air connectivity, media, sports, and culture. Satisfaction was expressed over the progress made on sectoral Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), and both sides agreed to expedite their finalization.

The meeting further addressed issues related to investment promotion, the removal of trade barriers, and the consideration of agreements on investment protection and avoidance of double taxation.

The meeting concluded on a positive and constructive note, with both parties agreeing to maintain regular dialogue and work closely towards further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
