Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan has urged the countrymen to be aware of misleading information and rumors spread on social media after a Bangladesh Air Force training fighter jet crashed in the Milestone School and College area of Uttara in the capital.
After the funeral of the pilot who died in the crash on Tuesday (July 22, 2025), he told reporters, “Please do not listen to rumors on social media at this time of danger for the country. A strong air force is essential for independence and sovereignty. Please do not weaken this pillar of the country’s sovereignty by spreading rumors.”
He said that a high-level investigation committee has already been formed to investigate the cause of the accident. The committee is investigating the scene and he assured that necessary steps will be taken based on their report.
The Air Chief Marshal said, “The pilot tried his best to land the plane in an uninhabited place. He sacrificed his life for the safety of the people of the country. We remember his sacrifice with deep respect.”
Wishing the injured a speedy recovery, he said, “May the injured recover quickly with everyone’s cooperation – that is our main goal now.”
Regarding the maintenance process of the Air Force, he said, “We never compromise on maintenance. We take daily measures to prevent accidents. However, we will definitely learn from this accident. The technology may be old, but these aircraft are not old. They have a fixed lifespan. It is not a matter of one era, two eras. The issue is maintenance. Our maintenance is always good. We repair them well.”
Regarding the unrest prevailing in the public mind at the scene, he expressed regret and said, “There is unrest at the crash site – it is very sad. There is nothing to hide here. An accident is an accident. There is no secret behind it.”
