On the occasion of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day, a national flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka on Thursday morning (August 14, 2025). Pakistan’s newly appointed High Commissioner (designate) to Bangladesh, Imran Haider, hoisted the national flag to the tune of the national anthem.

The ceremony was attended by Pakistani expatriates in Bangladesh, students, local media personnel, representatives of academia and think tanks, and officials of the High Commission. Special messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out.

In the messages, the national leadership congratulated the nation on Independence Day and remembered the Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, and the leaders of the Pakistan Movement with respect. They paid tribute to the armed forces and martyrs and referred to the recent ‘Marqa-e-Haq’ and ‘Operation Bunyan-um-Marsus’ operations as a symbol of the importance of freedom, restoration of national pride, re-establishment of the two-nation theory and firm resolve to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. They also reiterated their unwavering support to the Kashmiri people engaged in their just struggle for the right to self-determination in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

High Commissioner Imran Haider extended his greetings to the Pakistani community in Bangladesh and highlighted the significance of Independence Day. He paid deep respect to the struggle of our predecessors for the establishment of a sovereign state. He termed the success of Operation Marka-e-Haq as a major strategic milestone, which has strengthened Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding sovereignty and regional stability through national unity and swift action by the armed forces. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to continue its diplomatic, moral and political support for the just struggle of the Kashmiri people in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
