Many achievements have been made in the year since the July Uprising: Sheikh Bashiruddin

Trade and Textiles and Jute Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin has mentioned that many achievements have been made in the year since the July Uprising.

He said, we will be able to reach a stage by implementing structural reforms through which the next elected government will be able to move the country forward on a fair economy and non-discrimination journey, he said.

He said this at a special program organized as part of the July Resurgence celebration to commemorate the July Uprising of the students at the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) auditorium on Thursday (August 7) afternoon.

At the beginning of the program, a minute’s silence was observed in memory of the martyrs of the July Uprising. The Commerce and Textiles and Jute Ministries jointly organized the program.

The advisor said that although the proposed reforms could not be implemented 100% in a short time, efforts are being made to ensure a suitable roadmap. All the advisors are united under the leadership of the Chief Advisor on how to perform better and deliver a better election.

Stating that many achievements have been made in the year since July, Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin said, “We have been able to eliminate syndication in the market system. We have been able to make the activities of TCB inclusive. We have undertaken the program of giving cards to one crore families. Our macro economy has a balance surplus, our financial account has a surplus, reserves which probably fell to 10 billion have now risen to 30 billion. Exports have reached the highest level in the last 32 months. We have also made progress in eliminating inequality, he said.

The advisor said, “We have had to pay the price for the movement that started in July and the way we were able to say no to injustice in a coordinated and unified manner. From a small child Priya Gop to Yameen, we have had to give our lives. The sacrifices that had to be made in July and August are indescribable.” I came to remember July from that sense of responsibility, to learn more.

The special programs included the recollections of two July warriors, the screening of the documentary film “Shon Mahajan”, “Testimony of Martyrs’ Family” and “How many revolutionary friends were stained with blood”, a July-centered song recital and a discussion meeting.

Speaking as a special guest at the program, Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute Md. Abdur Rouf said, “Only if we can carry the significance of the July Uprising in our hearts and fulfill our responsibilities with sincerity, honesty and devotion, will we be able to establish a sustainable state that is non-discriminatory, humane and welfare-oriented.”

Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Mahbubur Rahman said, “Crumbling capitalism has occurred in the past seventeen years. The entire state machinery has been used to benefit a few people. To overcome this system, it is necessary to establish a non-discriminatory, just social structure, just policy framework and just behavior by embracing the spirit of July.”

The welcoming speech was delivered by Brigadier General Mohammad Faisal Azad, Chairman of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh. Ariful Islam Arif and Sayla Akhter Shashi, active participants in the student uprising, spoke reminiscing about the July Uprising.
