The government is on alert for August 5 and there is no security threat, said Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.).
The advisor said this while briefing reporters after the meeting of the Core Committee on Law and Order at the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday (August 04, 2025) afternoon.

The advisor said that there is no reason for any panic about August 5. By the grace of Allah Almighty, all kinds of events and programs will be held peacefully with the cooperation of everyone. There is also a warning from the government in this regard. He said that the government has to be alert about everything. That is why various kinds of meetings are organized and cooperation of all concerned is sought.
In response to a question from journalists about the government’s special operation, the advisor said that the special operation is going on nationwide which will continue until the elections. And all-out efforts are being made to recover the lost weapons that could not be recovered.
Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said, the trend of juvenile crime is high in the capital’s Mohammadpur area. We need to increase social awareness of the people along with our families in this regard. In response to another question from journalists about mob violence, the advisor said, mob violence has decreased from before. It will gradually decrease further. We are not making any concessions in the case of mobs.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Ghani, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud and others were present during the briefing.
