Dhaka, July 28, 2025 (Monday) at 10:30 am, the Honorable Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Bangladesh, Mr. Park Young-sik, paid a courtesy call and exchanged views with Ameer-e-Jamaat Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at the central office of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. He was accompanied by Deputy Chief of Mission Ms. Jin-hee Baek.
The meeting was held in a very cordial and cordial atmosphere. Present on behalf of Jamaat at this time were Deputy Ameer and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher, Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar, Assistant Secretary General and Head of Publicity Department Ed. Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer, Secretary of Publicity Department Ed. Matiur Rahman Akand and Foreign Affairs Advisor Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan.
In a brief press briefing after the meeting, Professor Mia Golam Parwar said that the meeting discussed bilateral relations, economy, the overall political situation of the country, the upcoming national elections and the development of potential sectors.
The Ameer-e-Jamaat said, “Bangladesh is a country with a promising, developing economy. There are various opportunities and resources for a sustainable economy here, especially the export potential of the ready-made garment sector is appreciated worldwide.”
He also said, “We are continuing our efforts to move the country forward on the path of a democratic, corruption-free and sustainable economy through honest leadership and effective reforms. We are working towards forming an effective government through fair elections.”
In the meeting, the Korean ambassador expressed hope for a speedy resolution of the issues related to customs and tariffs in Bangladesh’s exports. In addition, in response to the ambassador’s interest in the elections, the Ameer-e-Jamaat said that the proposal for elections was made by the Jamaat before Ramadan and most of the political parties in the country have voted in favor of the PR (Proportional Representation) system. He said that this method will reduce the influence of black money and muscle power and make it possible to form a quality parliament.
