“Origins of Vision” Art Exhibition Successfully Concludes at the Embassy of Japan

The closing ceremony of the week-long group art exhibition “Origins of Vision”, jointly organized by the Embassy of Japan, Harnet Fine Arts and Harnet Foundation, was held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Embassy of Japan on Saturday (26 July 2025) evening.

Distinguished artist Farida Zaman, architect F.R. Khan and Durjoy Rahman, founder, Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation, were present as guests at the closing ceremony. In addition, renowned artists, diplomats and art lovers participated in the program.

Alisha Pradhan, Secretary-General, Harnet Foundation and Head of Harnet Fine Arts, served as the chief curator of the exhibition. Monir Pradhan, Chairman of Harnet Foundation, was one of the organizers of the exhibition.

In her closing remarks, Japanese Ambassador Saida Shinchi expressed her heartfelt congratulations on the successful conclusion of the exhibition. He said that many of the artists participating in this exhibition have studied or trained in Japan, which highlights a unique combination of Japanese and Bangladeshi art styles. The ambassador further mentioned that on May 30 in Tokyo, Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru and Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus agreed to strengthen cultural relations. He expressed hope that initiatives like this exhibition will further strengthen mutual understanding and bilateral relations between the two countries in the future.

The exhibition, which ran from July 18 to July 26, showcased the works of 47 renowned and emerging Bangladeshi artists. The exhibition, which was open to the public, was attended by a large number of visitors, including students and cultural figures.

As part of the cultural exchange, the exhibition organized Japanese cultural activities such as Tea Ceremony, Origami and Ikebana exhibitions.

The exhibition featured prominent Bangladeshi artists Zainul Abedin, S.M. Paying tribute to Sultan, Kibria, Novera Ahmed, Rashid Chowdhury, Kamrul Hasan and Safiuddin Ahmed, their preserved artworks were presented to the public for the first time.
