Inception workshop of ‘AsTP’ project held with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)

The ‘Technical Support to Sustainable and Resilient Investment Towards Agriculture Sector Transformation Program (AsTP)’ project, implemented under the Agricultural Transformation Program (ATP) of the Government of Bangladesh, is opening a new horizon with the aim of making the country’s agriculture sector modern, sustainable and climate-resilient.

The inception workshop of the project, held on Wednesday (July 23), featured a technical dialogue among the participants, which served as an important platform for coordination and cooperation among the partners.

The main objectives of the project, supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), are:

Development of evidence-based planning processes

Investment in climate-resilient agriculture in six regions

Piloting of smart agricultural technologies and innovative activities

Through this project, FAO is working to bring about long-term change in the agricultural sector in Bangladesh through innovation, investment and institutional capacity building. The AsTP project is being implemented in line with Bangladesh’s national development goals and the four pillars of FAO’s “better production, better nutrition, better environment and better lives”.

The workshop was attended by government officials, development partners, agricultural experts, representatives from the private sector and civil society.
