Airport visit to assess manpower for third terminal – Home Affairs Advisor

Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said that he visited the airport mainly to assess manpower for the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The advisor said this while briefing reporters after inspecting the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Kurmitola in the capital on Saturday (July 19, 2025) morning.

The advisor said that apart from assessing manpower for the third terminal, today’s airport visit was to see what kind of problems those who travel abroad face and whether there are any problems with immigration. He said that the third terminal area of the airport has become very beautiful, modern and up-to-date. The progress of the work of the third terminal has reached 99.18 percent. However, the concerned will decide when it will be inaugurated. He also said that the operational capability of the third terminal is much higher and better. It is hoped that the problems that used to arise in coming and going from abroad will not arise again once this is implemented.

Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said, I thank many journalists who risked their lives to telecast the Gopalganj incident live. The common people were able to see the incident live and get accurate information. The advisor said, a high-powered committee has been formed in the Gopalganj incident, which will determine who is really responsible through investigation. He said, this committee will present all the issues to everyone.

Citing the reason for not being able to conduct autopsies on all the bodies killed in Gopalganj, the advisor said, the relatives of the deceased have taken the bodies of some of the bodies from the hospital. Even though the doctors wanted to conduct an autopsy, the relatives did not allow it. However, the autopsies of some of the bodies have been completed. He said, if necessary, the bodies of the bodies for which it was not possible to conduct an autopsy will be exhumed from the graves and autopsies will be conducted.

The advisor visited Terminal 1 and 2 of the airport in addition to Terminal 3. During this time, he inquired about the passengers, listened to their various problems and gave instructions to the concerned to resolve them.

During the inspection, Civil Aviation Authority Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md. Mustafa Mahmud Siddique and Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Executive Director Group Captain SM Ragib Samad along with senior officials of the airport immigration were present.
