Alliance Française de Dhaka to inaugurate Liton Kar’s solo exhibition “Women, the Universe – Its Infinite Infinity” on July 18

A solo exhibition of artist Liton Kar, “Women, the Universe – Its Infinite Infinity”, is set to open at La Galerie, Alliance Française de Dhaka. The exhibition’s inaugural ceremony will be held on Friday, July 18 at 6 pm.

Artist Professor Farida Zaman, Md. Mahbubur Rahman (Additional Managing Director and CFO, City Bank PLC), Mahrukh Mohiuddin (Managing Director, University Press Limited) and renowned mountaineer Nishat Majumdar will be present as special guests at the inaugural ceremony.

In the exhibition, Liton Kar has portrayed the spirituality, memory and cosmic position of women in an analytical and poetic manner. His 25 large-scale oil paintings will be exhibited, where women are presented not only as figures, but as powerful and fundamental entities rooted in nature, dreams and inherited memories. The canvases reflect the mixture of reality and imagination, the artist’s theater, storytelling techniques and experience working in social reality.

Born in Chittagong, Liton Kar graduated in Fine Arts from Chittagong University. He has been active in painting and creative arts for more than three decades. In 1996, he founded two creative organizations—‘Shade’ and ‘Italic’. His short film ‘ICU (I See You)’ gained international recognition in 2022.

As a special attraction of the exhibition, the film ‘ICU (I See You)’ will be screened at 5:30 PM on the opening and closing days (July 18 and 26). In addition, a live musical performance by the ‘Post Office Society’ band at 7 PM on July 19 will give a cultural complement to the exhibition.

The exhibition will be open to the public until July 26. The exhibition will be open from 3pm to 9pm every day from Monday to Saturday. Closed on Sundays.
