Inception meeting held on rehabilitation of returnees

The inception meeting of the “Reintegration for Migrant Workers” project was held under the joint initiative of SME Foundation and International Labor Organization (ILO). The meeting, organized at the conference room of the Wage Earners Welfare Board in the capital, held important discussions on the problems, prospects and future steps for the rehabilitation of returnee migrant workers in the economic mainstream of the society.

The meeting was presided over by Mr. Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, Managing Director of SME Foundation. Mr. Md. Saiful Haque Chowdhury, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment and Project Director Dr. ATM Mahbub Ul Karim were present as special guests.

Rahnuma Salam Khan, National Program Manager of ILO, Bangladesh, highlighted the objectives and implementation process of the project. Representatives of NSDA, BNSK, BRAC Migration, Bangladesh Bank, City Bank, Expatriates Welfare Bank and other related institutions were also present in the meeting.
